Hey there!

StuGov here, how are you?
It’s been a little while since we talked, so we thought we’d send you a quick update on what we’ve been up to!

Student Fitness Committee:

Our Student Fitness Committee is in the process of implementing changes to the Robertson Student Center workout area. These updates are based on your responses to the survey we sent out last semester; thank you to those who participated! Some of the changes we are looking at include purchasing free weights and dumbbells, raising the separation wall between the Nest area and the workout area, and adding preventative security measures to guard against theft or disrespect of future additions. The Committee is in conversation with the Facilities and Purchasing departments, and we hope to have some changes implemented by the end of the semester.

Sustainability Initiatives:

Student Government is always striving to be aware of the desires of students. One of the more recent interest spikes has been in the area of sustainability issues. Several Senators are investing their time and effort into these initiatives, and Student Government is excited to be a part of the initiatives’ supporting community. We look forward to continuing to develop the partnership with various staff and faculty and with our sustainable friends in the student body.

theRock Reform:

Student Government, specifically our President and our Senator of Technology, are working with Student Life to revitalize our web and technology offerings related to theRock. Staff and involved students agree with you- theRock is clunky, cluttered, hard to navigate, and overpopulated with information. Additional resources are not effective either, like the search bar or the mobile app.

The goal of the current project is streamline the layout of theRock, prioritize the information we offer and eliminate unused content, and create something with students in mind. To that end, you can expect a survey to be sent out within a month to get your thoughts on the matter! Particularly, if you are a student, staff, or faculty member with a special interest in web development and related fields, we would love to start a dialogue with you, and involve you in the reform and creation process. We are working on making our information accurate, but we are making steady steps forward, and a new website will be here soon.

Talk to Us!:

If you have thoughts or suggestions related to these ongoing projects or any other concerns, please come talk to us! We hold open office hours every Monday and Tuesday, from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
