Jan. 17, the men’s basketball team won its second straight road win over conference opponent Martin Luther.
The game began slowly, with missed opportunities to score and take the lead. The Knights took advantage of early errors by the Eagles and went on a 13-0 scoring run to open up the game. A pair of three pointers from Eric Wittus and Michael Carney ended the half with the Eagles trailing by 5 points.
In the second half the team gained the lead and kept it for the remainder of the half. The game ended with a win for the Eagles as the final score read 58-54.
The men’s basketball team traveled to Mankato in search of its third straight road win on Saturday, Jan. 18 against Bethany Lutheran College. The Eagles were victorious in their efforts, winning 77-59. Bethany Lutheran played hard, swapping leads with the Eagles before the first half. In the second half, the Eagles stole the show and led the rest of the game. Steven Willey, senior guard, led the way with 22 points for the night.
“If we played to our potential, I thought we had a good chance to be successful in both of the games,” said Head Coach Grosz.
The Eagles took on the University of Minnesota Morris Jan. 24. The team had plenty of chances to get the victory but came up short on a last second shot attempt which gave Morris the win, 59-56.
Saturday, the Eagles had a chance to redeem themselves after the loss in a matchup against Crown. With a big crowd at the Ericksen Center for the Hoops Hysteria event, the Eagles didn’t disappoint fans winning, 79-65.
