Mesa Pizza, a specialty pizza restaurant located in Dinkytown, is a great place to get away from college pressures and relax with friends.
Band posters adorn the walls of this simple restaurant, while indie music bounces off the brightly colored walls. It only adds to the casual, hipster vibe.
But that doesn’t mean the crowd isn’t diverse. Most of the hungry people who walk through the door are college students, but the average businessperson is also a popular guest.
Mesa Pizza is no ordinary pizza parlor. They offer a wide variety of pizzas—from traditional flavors like cheese and pepperoni to quirky flavors, such as their highly popular mac-and-cheese pizza. You can also try their honey mustard, chicken gyro or guacamole burrito pizzas, if you are feeling adventurous. Mesa Pizza also offers seventeen different vegan pizzas.
A single slice of pizza costs $3.75, which is not bad considering the generous size of a slice. You can also order a whole pizza for $20.
Even though this restaurant is pretty special, there are a few downfalls. Because most of the seating is a line of bar stools, it’s not the type of place where you can sit and stay for a couple of hours.
UNW is also outside of their delivery zone (although you can call to order ahead).
One note of caution: if you go late at night, be careful—the bar across the street also provides late night guests.
Rating: 4/5 stars
The menu variety is great and you get a lot of pizza for your money, but the location is less than perfect.
